I had a good shift at work tonight. It was cruisy and enjoyable. The dinner was for the "Sustaining Prosperity" conference, and it was held in the Grand Ballroom. It was basically about Australia's economic and financial status, and how it can be bettered etc. Peter Costello was the main man of the evening. He gave a long speech about Liberal economic crap and bagged dole bludgers. Especially the disabled ones. He made a lot of jokes and the guests seemed to find them funny. The guests were mostly a mix of politicians, executives and sponsors. They stole all the pot plants.

Glenn and I got McDonalds on the way home and watched "Vampire's Kiss" - which was awesome. I'm not sure what my plans for the weekend are yet. I'm not sleeping because I'm not tired yet, and I know I won't be able to get to sleep. I haven't been able to sleep until 4am for the past few nights.

The regular Sofitel pay-day is Tuesday, but I have still not been paid for the last fortnight. I can only assume that Easter has put it back a few days. It's pretty annoying, though. It better be in by tomorrow morning or it'll put a big, ugly, rusty (but still strong) spanner in the works.

Life has been progressing very slowly. I've been getting more anti-social and bitter. It's good in some ways, but worse in more. It's good in a "stand back and laugh at the fact" way, but bad in the actual..real..world. Yeah, that makes sense.

I haven't done anything since seeing Angra. I just mope around and sample the varied electronic pleasures this house has to offer. That sentence didn't fit in with the general theme very well.

I'm teetering on the edge of a very lame entry here. Hah, lame. Memories.

Goddamn I love music. I couldn't live without it. The greatest affect it seems to have on me is that sometimes when I'm feeling down it just picks me up and all of a sudden I'm feeling great again. Not just good, great. Everything else falls away and I am in awesome land. Certain bands and songs do it to me more often than others, but it is definitely a music thing as opposed to a favourite band thing. I don't really know who to thank for this (me? genetic make-up? the Metal genre? speakers?) but life would be nowhere near as brilliant without it.

The past few days have been nice. I didn't work on Monday or Tuesday which was a welcome change. Tomorrow night Adam, Glenn and I are going to see Angra at the Corner Hotel. It'll be good fun. I have the next week off Uni (minus tomorrow), so I will hopefully be able to knock off two of my upcoming assignments.

I got a twenty-five dollar tip at work a few days ago. That is equivalent to a week of dinners. It's beautiful.

I'm enjoying having some time to bum around this morning. Everything is so busy and irritating, and it is only going to get worse this semester. Still, next year should be better - at least Uni wise. Actually, if I worked less at the moment everything would be so much easier. I think I might have to just cut my availability down and cop less cash. I got my tram fine - $150 - and I need to pay it by April. I don't think I posted about the tram fine adventure as it was before the LJ relaunch, but rest assured, it was not my fault and it makes me very, very angry. Very angry. Angry at children. Schoolkids. Shits. Angry.

I will do some ironing later on and cook up some lamb for lunch. I'll leave for work about 2:20pm. I think it will be a late shift but I'm not 100% certain.

I'm falling behind on the LJ entries. Some crimes never go unpunished.

Today I slept in and won't make the trek to Uni in time. This sucks, as it is the second Monday of tutorials I have missed, and I was required to hand in an essay today (which I have done, it's okay). I'll have to talk to the lecturer or tutor tomorrow (I still don't know who the tutor is...) to see what the go is. The real drama is the fact that I don't have a printer and the printing at La Trobe is atrocious; otherwise I would have handed everything in LAST week. Ah well, life is such. I'll go shopping today and try to find a printing shop nearby I can print my work at. I really wish a printer would just fall from the heavens and land on my foot, though. I really need one for this whole course.

It looks like quite a nice day outside. 29 degrees according to the computer. Shorts it is.

I need to source a good jacket to put all my patches on. I've developed a good collecton. They're wasted away on my door, though.

The only bad thing is that metal jackets are definitely for Seasoned Metal Warriors, not for young up'n'comer fans like me. A denim jacket would work if I cut the sleaves off. A leather jacket would be perfect, but they're kind of expensive and often look stupid. The other option is to put all the patches on pants, but I have trouble finding pants that fit me well. I'm in between a 34 and 36 waist, with some 36s being outrageously huge, and some 34s being really tight. It's a bitch. The snug fitting comes into blurry context with the revelation that these pants would need to last a long time, would definitely become my favourite pants, and therefore they must have the utmost comfort possible. If I still did Judo it would be awesome to put them on my Gi. I think that would be breaching competition rules, but still, the FAME. Especially if I did really well at a competition.

A: "Yo yo who is that awesome mysterious metal guy flippin' everyone?"
B: "I don't know, but he is AWESOME and METAL."

Fantasies are swell and all...hey, fuck, I just remembered about going down to the Hawthorn Judo Club one Wednesday. I can't go next Wednesday because of work (AGAIN), so it might have to be the week after. I'm home alone tonight (pizza? Subway? hmm), finishing off my last essay tomorrow and then packing up and heading home to Geelong for Sam F's party. I'll have a few drinks and play some poker with whoever is eager, then head to Adventure Park for a family day with Dad & Co on Sunday. It's all planned out like Hiroshima.

Asian people just walked past pointing at the rubber chicken and speaking in Korean. Wankers! WHITE SUPREMAC-

Today was not the best of them. I had to get up at 7am for the usual Thursday start at Uni, which was fine, although I got a bit impatient waiting around for two hours for the Screen Narrative lecture. I caught the tram straight into the city afterwards and worked until 8:30pm. Work was irritating due to the fact I can barely talk and my throat canes, but what made it twenty times worse was the knowledge that I know I have to go back at 8am tomorrow.

Upon returning home I found that my mouse doesn't work anymore, my speakers don't work any more and I can now no longer use all the electrical stuff in my room. My room only has one powerpoint, and I think this caused a bit of a problem as everything went schpoof at once followed my a surge of some kind. So now my speakers (that I bought for $300 a few years ago) are fried. I guess I should be feeling lucky nothing else is. God knows why the mouse is dead. It's impractical trying to navigate the Internet with only right-clicks.

I need to sleep.

Well, work wasn't at 4pm today. It was at 6am. Luckily Glenn woke me up at 5:40am so I was only 20 minutes late.

Everyone was testy at work today. All of the supervisors were stepping on each other's toes, and I was getting like 50 jobs from 50 different people all at once (might be a slight exaggeration). Luckily it was only a short shift, so I was out the door at 12:30pm and on my way home. I really need to get 10+ hours sleep tonight or I am going to die over the next couple of days.

I did a big shop on the way back from work so now the house is looking a bit less empty. There are some bands playing tonight I want to go and see but I don't think I should (see the sleeping mention). It is unfortunate but for the best. I'm looking at home-cooked pizza for dinner, followed by a couple of videos, maybe a bit of dancing, yoga, so forth. Hot cross buns taste fantastic, I'd forgotten how good they are when microwaved with butter. Grilled is better, but who has the patience? Cary Grant? Don't be ridiculous.

Update

I did not have a very interesting day today, unfortunately. University took up the majority of it, with a lovely 9am start. I skipped the second half of the Introd Lit lecture as the whole bloody subject bores the pants off me (calm down ladies) and came home at 5:15pm. Apparently our landlord called in with plans for the backyard, which is quite handy in some ways but irritating in others. The irritation stems from the fact that now I can't get a vegetable patch happening without discourse with the gentleman, the handy factor comes into play as now we won't have a shitty backyard, we'll have a weird backyard with a paved section. I actually have no idea what his plans are, but I'm sure they'll make some kind of impact on my life; so I'm writing about it. Or I was writing about it. Now I am onto a completely new subject.

I am cooking cheese, onion and capscium toasted sandwiches. They will be divine. I installed Half-Life 2 earlier and played CS: Source online for an hour or two. It took me about three games to get back into it, but I never made it to first place on a map. Second and third were my home for this evening. I don't have to work until 4pm tomorrow (I think) so I can hopefully get some Uni done and mope around a bit. I want to feel better so I can start jogging again. I am getting the beginnings of that 'OMG LIEK I AM SO FAT' teen angsty feeling and it isn't pleasant. That, LiveJournal and my occasionally emo hair really completes the package.

Better get to that toasted sandwich. Tootles.

Today was fucking long. It wasn't actually longer than any other day, but it felt twice the duration. I think this is just because I am mildly sick and irritable. This morning was good fun though, Glenn and I skid into the city and bought some random items. I held back from buying CDs. After this I went to Uni from the city at midday for about an hour and then made it home in time to relax a bit before work. Work was truly tedious and uninspiring. I can't even remember who the function was for. Some company..having a conference. The people really liked meatballs though. And fish. They fucking devoured the fish. I caught the 10:43pm train home, got myself a drink and sat down here. I need to get eight hours tonight because I'm feeling worse in the throat. I can't be bothered going to the doctor though, as I know it will go away. I just have to endure.

Gotta leave for Uni at 7:15am tomorrow. I hate Tuesdays. That pretty much screws my eight hours over.

At least tomorrow night will be good. It will be relaxing. Plus I don't think I have to work until 4pm on Wednesday.

I cannot stand being sick. Especially the sick where you can still do things, you're just less capable than normal. It makes me mad. Mad enough to break stuff.

I spent today reading, organising my Uni books, doing the dirty washing and playing Shenmue. I really don't feel like leaving the house and braving the cold, harsh, evil wind. Hopefully I will feel better soon. The book I'm reading at the moment is interesting, it's a non-fiction piece on Penny Dreadfuls; a topic I've been curious about ever since I re-read the "Ruby in the Smoke" series of novels. The illustrations are good too, I need to somehow reproduce them through scanning or colour photocopying. I wonder if the Uni library has colour photocopiers. I should check that out tomorrow.

I feel at peace now that all of my Uni stuff is organised. Structure is a good thing. I don't think I'll ever use the Union diary, though. When it comes down to it, it's basically just another high school Study Planner (which I never used..so why start now?). If anything, there is even less reason to use it as I have less essays etc due. Important stuff goes on the calender, less important stuff stays in my head.

I wonder what I'll have for dinner. Xavier is out but Glenn should be here. I'll cough on his food and give him flaragageniutis or whatever I've got.

Update

Today's weather is awful. It's sunny at times, but it never lasts long enough to be enjoyed.

Yesterday night Glenn and I went into the city. Glenn bought an Opeth shirt at Smoke Dreams of his own accord. I bought some more patches for my jacket (whenever it crosses my path) and we had Subway for tea. I was invited to a party in Abbotsford tonight, but I don't think I'll go unless Glenn is REALLY enthusiastic about it. I doubt this considering he was plastered only a few days ago. The weather is bad and tram travel would be irritating, plus Xavier's voice is still shattered in a dozen pieces so he isn't interested. He "doesn't want to look like a loser in the corner not speaking to anybody." I wonder what would happen if I jabbed him in the larynx.

I went through some old PC magazines and found some nice A4 advertisements for ToEE, Arcanum and TLJ, so I've put them up on the collage wall in the loungeroom. It's starting to look a bit better. It just needs some more abstract photography, at the moment the games are kind of running the show, and that is definitely not preferable. I went to my step-cousin's housewarming earlier today and met a few new people. I envy their house, it's fantastic. Great painted walls, open, chickens, fish, etc...all I've got is the turkey-mascot thing. They're all students at Melbourne Uni (actually Rachel now goes to Monash) and all went to either McRobbs or University High. Juicy ENTER scores, or as the drunken rabble at the train station the other week yelled out, "NINETY NINE POINT FREAK!" That was a funny night.

I'm still playing through Shenmue on the Dreamcast, Goldeneye on Secret Agent for the N64 and a bit of Kult: Heretic Kingdoms on the PC. I found a PAL copy of Shenmue 2 for the Dreamcast on eBay for $101. I didn't even know Shenmue II PAL EXISTED, and I was seriously tempted...but in the end I justified it as a waste of money and refrained from clicking. I also think I am coming down with something of the weak-dying-sickness variety, I need to eat more vegetables. I should eat pumpkin for dinner tonight.

That will conclude today's entry.

Update

The time has come to return to LiveJournal. One of my subjects at University (WYL) strongly encourages its students (ME!) to keep a personal diary every day. Therefore I decided to continue this public exhibition. It's good for history's sake, anyway. I can look back when I'm 53 and go, "my, wasn't I an articulate lad!" before adjusting my urine bag and continuing to watch Buffy. This brings me to an important point.

I am doing two Cinema Studies units. Fair enough, you say, that sounds great! You'll get to study Buffy! ERRRNNNNNNNNN.
No Buffy. Apparently many students have complained to the lecturer. I'm not going to go that far, as I'm sure they have their reasons (the lecturers) and I don't want to be a bitch, but it is a bit disappointing. Still, chin up. It's going to be okay.

Xav, Glenn and I went to a Swinburne party last night. It was funny. I was the only La Trobe student, and for half the night, the only person there who didn't go to Swinburne. The highlights were playing blackjack with a legend of a Frenchman ("Do you like Australia?" "Yes, but I am disappointed...with the women.."), throwing waterbombs at pedestrians and people's cars from the balcony (I regret it but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time), and having conversations with the two Mexicans (who DIDN'T HAVE SOMBREROS).

I think this will do for now. I don't want these entries to be too long as I am going to try to do them daily.

Today

This morning I woke up and stumbled into the kitchen. It was 8:28am and mother was up. She said something about exams and I grumbled and told her I was just taking a piss before going back to bed. I did just that, and again woke up, this time at 9:10am or something. I had my shower, ate my cornflakes, and sat around on the Internet until 10:00am. I decided I needed to eat more food (for the exam and all) and luckily I found that there was some perfectly delicious sticky date pudding awaiting its demise in the corner of the fridge. I took it out, microwaved it, added ice cream, and cleaned it up in about a minute flat. I chatted to Mick Milner about the IT exam and played a quick session of Gothic II before wandering over to the bus stop.

The bus stop was today inhabited by some particularly unsavoury characters. One man, possibly Aboriginal, possibly Greek, was seated next to a women (most likely his lover, in case you were wondering) who was smoking cigarettes. I couldn't hear their conversation as I was listening to Cryptopsy on my discman, but I assure you that it would not have been innocuous banter in sweet harmonies. There was something fishy going on. Anyway, before my detective brain could get into the swing of fantasising various dubious scenarios around my fellow bus stop inhabitants, it was rudely interrupted by, you guessed it, the bus!

The bus trip this morning was most certainly one of the dullest I have ever experienced, with no abuse of the driver prevalent whatsoever. I was almost tempted to just yell out "JACKASS!" when I got off the bus to make up for it. Of course, I didn't REALLY know if the bus driver didn't cop any flak (as I was listening to music) but there were no angry customers or flailing arms, so I have to assume otherwise. Now, back to departing the bus. Upon stepping onto sweet, sweet Bell Post Hill soil, I noticed some Yr 11 kid walking down the road. Normally this wouldn't interest me except this fellow had quite a striking resemblance to a red-headed echidna, and so I gave him a good staring until he began to look uncomfortable and got a bit too close. I headed up towards school and passed another two Yr 11s who made snide remarks that I couldn't hear behind Lord Worm's beautiful singing, and therefore chose to ignore (who says Metal makes you violent?).

Upon reaching my final destination (for NOW!!!) I began to quicken my pace. A black dog decided to jump me, luckily I was already in a semi-Kung Fu stance that warded it off in the direction of some little children, who pointed and laughed and petted it. After the dog nothing eventful happened whatsoever. I was expecting the school to be vacant, only to find a bunch of people hanging around the stairs. They were talking about..something..no doubt very interesting. I noted Daniel's awesome looking facial hair and began discussing I.T. with himself and Graeme until Adam arrived. He did a bit of a stunt by opening a door on the way down the alley - caught us off guard - and then proceeded to greet us all warmheartedly. I noted Eric had arrived about ten seconds before I heard the "Eric is here!" from behind me. He purposefully strode off quite lamely to get his books (in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION to where we were going GASP!) and was predictably questioned by Daniel.

So then we mounted the stairs, Adam, Daniel and I, and quietly made our way to V8 for the exam. V8 is a very different environment to the Hall, where all my other exams were held. But before I get into the exam, allow me to discuss the pre-examination chatter. James Dossett was absent until right before we went in, and so we talked about random I.T. things to pass the time. Ms Mestitz came out and yabbered on about Baulch's essay (I'm going to miss him) and Eric rocked up from his locker to Jamie's call (for the fiftieth time this year); "You decided to turn up!"

Mr. Trevaskis wiped everyone's calculators too. God knows why they bothered bringing them. There was not one instance in the exam where a calculator was necessary (unless they can't multiply 10,000,000 by 2 and then divide by 1000 in their heads). Overall it was a decent paper, not too hard, but I can think of a few marks I dropped. Eric did his 45-minute early leaving stunt, closely followed by Daniel, and slowly the rest of them dropped like flies until only five of us remained at the end of the exam. The examiner lady said some derogatory things about Eric, I gave her back her pen (mine stopped working), then Adam and I set off. We decided we would go and talk to the other people at the stairs for a couple of minutes seeing as though it was a nice day. There wasn't much going on, so I said goodbye to Daniel's facial hair and set off with Adam. We discussed miscellaneous topics until our paths split. I waited around at the bus stop for about 25 minutes, got on the bus, and started listening to Cryptopsy again.

After a couple of stops Jan (Isaac's ex-girlfriend) got on with a man I hadn't met. She did her smile and wave thing she always does and sat down. She was dressed up a lot. I continued listening to Cryptopsy and thought about the kids at the front of the bus. To be honest I don't really think I did, but I am adding lots of details so there is bound to be a few minor discrepancies. Creative license. Anyway, the bus took me to my destination, I got off, walked home, and ate Corn Flakes. I logged on the 'Net and checked some shit, talked post-exam to Mick, who for some reason I talked to a lot today, and then booted up Gothic II.

I finished Chapter 1, slaughtered a few orcs, made my way into the besieged castle in the Old World, did a few quests, killed some more orcs, killed some wolves, bloodflies, snappers, a dragon snapper or two, some goblins, found some Dragonroot, created the Fireball rune (no more Flame Arrow shit for me), found a Paladin's two-hander (far better than the rough two-hander I had before), and got the main quest to find the scrapper camps. I was tempted to brew an elixier of dexterity but decided against it, as this run-through I was attempting to neglect dexterity and focus on mana and strength instead. I wanted to train up my two-handed sword skills to Master level but Magicians have to pay fucking 20LP to raise it a puny +5, so I just got more mana instead. Bloody retarded, I'll be stuck at Figher level for the rest of the game. It doesn't matter balance wise, as I can own just about anything with my magic, but I like swinging the sword...and I really wanted to check out the Master combos for two-handed weapons (the reach is huge when compared with the one-handers I used in my first run-through as a Paladin). I learnt my second circle of magic too - needed for the Fireball rune - which I think has the Sleep spell in it, which I've been wanting for ages. I think I might have to go back to the New World and head to the Monastery to learn that one, though. I jumped out of a window and died by accident. I sold all my shit and discovered that the orc Elite and Shamans are immune to my fire magic. Then I jumped off and decided it was time for dinner.

Mum went out as usual, so I had to fend for myself, only this time without $$$. I got creative and decided on making a pita bread pizza, with my own home-brewed tomato paste. I had never made tomato paste before, but I think I did an okay job. It wasn't fantastic or anything, but it was...okay, kind of. I got some peeled tomatos and chucked them in a saucepan with some frying onion and gave it a bit of a stir. Then I got the saucepan lid and put it over the top, chucked an electric mixer thing in the middle and mushed the shitshop through the tomato and onion. After about five minutes of that I got some barbecue sauce and squired it in, followed by some spices, stirred it up some more, and took it off the heat. I put it on the pizza, followed by some tasty cheese and red capsicum, and put it in the oven for about 10 minutes. I ate the pizza whilst watching A Current Affair and Today Tonight. They are horrid. I haven't watched a whole episode of those shows for years, but I thought it'd be good for a laugh, and I suppose it was.

After these two fantastic current affair programs Frasier came on. I watched half of it and washed the dishes, 90% of which were Mum's (yes, I'm bitter). I believe I next had a shower and washed my hair. I proceeded to return to the Internet and did the usual forum rounds. I received a phone call from Steven K.T. asking Terri and I to go somewhere for a gathering of some description, to which I politely declined. Gothic II prevailed again, followed once more by the Internet. Terri came online to talk as phone discussions are expensive when she is back at Wensleydale, and we weighed the advantages and disadvantages of tree guards made out of milk cartons.

The majority of this entry has been fictional, especially the detailed parts. However, Gothic II was all true baby.

Today...

► I rode down to the beach and drank orange juice. It was a really nice day. On the way back I made an obstacle course out of chunks of concrete around the big piles of gravel down at the gardens at the moment. I'll go back another time, I was getting good at them. You can't do much stationary stuff on mountain bikes though, even with an alluminium frame they're too heavy. It's all about speed. It made me reminisce about getting my mates together and heading down to the park back in Melbourne when I was growing up and doing ghosties and all those tricks. Seeing who could get the longest skid, riding down to Fairfield Park for ice creams, just riding everywhere, it made me want a bike-riding friend nearby. Not for some...lame...missing-the-past-crap-reason, but because it was fun and I forgot how much fun bikes were. Yeah. Fuck.
